Frailty is a condition related to the ageing process where multiple systems within the body loses its reserve increasing the risk to a sudden change in health triggered by minor stresses for example an infection or fall.

People with frailty have an increased risk of falls, disability, delirium, long term care and death. Health care systems are now challenged to manage people within the different stages of frailty to maintain and support their own health (NHS England 2014, BGS 2014).
